For over 150 years, St. Bernard's School has been a very important and central part of the mission of Saint Bernard's Parish.
Therefore, we have the expectation that parents choosing to enroll their children in St. Bernard's School, are making the commitment to be actively involved in the life of the Parish. This is done through the stewardship of their time, talents and treasures.
This spells out what our policy is all about. Thank you for your interest and involvement in education at St. Bernard's.

Enrollment status in Priorities 4, 5 and 6 is determined by the pastor and principal, along with two Education Commission members picked at random. The members of the Admissions Committee may not have a family member seeking enrollment. The committee, in consultation with the pastor, is authorized to use its judgment when special circumstances arise.
Children who have qualified for the Kindergarten Class, but school screening led to the recommendation that the child could benefit by waiting a year, will be automatically accepted in the next year’s class based on a successful completion of screening.
Enrollment – Other Grades
· In grades one through five, registrations will be taken throughout the school year. These registrations will be prioritized in the order they are received and filled as positions open.
· Families on existing waiting lists will be notified by mail and must reapply in February to hold their spot. Waiting lists are only in effect during the current school year and do not roll over year to year.
· If an older child (1-6) enters the school program after the January Kindergarten registration date and this family has an eligible Kindergarten student for the next school year, they will be placed at the top of the Kindergarten waiting list.
In addition to the above criteria, for those entering grades other than kindergarten, school records from the previous school must be submitted before the time of registration. After reviewing records, parents and the prospective student will be asked to meet the principal and discuss the expectations of the school. Waiting lists will be finalized by March 1st.
Kindergarten registration will take place the entire month of January. Kindergarten children must be 5 years old on or before September 1st. Parents will be notified of their child’s status by mail the end of February. Registrations after January 31st will be prioritized as they come in.
