RELIGION
Our religious program, the “Faith First” K-6 series is at the core of our curriculum. Instruction in doctrine and weekly scripture readings are coupled with participation in liturgical and para-liturgical programs. The parish priest enriches the total religion program.
Parish children receive the sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation in Grade 2. A Family Life Program is taught in Grade 5.

REGULAR SUBJECTS
We follow the guidelines provided by the Diocese of Madison in the selection of all texts. Large and small group instruction, remedial and enrichment programs are provided as the opportunity and need arise.
The 2003 Macmillan/McGraw Hill Reading Series is used as our basic reading program for K-6. In this series, the students work in levels according to their ability. Lower grades participate in reading activities daily from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Spelling and English are taught as Language Arts. Writing is stressed throughout using “Write Source” books and materials.
The 2001 Houghton Mifflin Math Series is used for K-6. The program stresses the basic math skills that need to be developed. Emphasis is also on problem-solving and practical math applications. This series is challenging and forms a solid foundation for future success.
In grades 4-6 students use the 2003 Houghton Mifflin “We the People” History and Geography series.

The Silver Burdette 1996 Discover Science Series is used in all grades. This series helps to build a knowledge of basic science concepts which will lead to further understanding of the subject. The program features a complete health strand, problem solving, and practical experimentation.
The Silver Burdette program is used for Music. The music teacher often coordinates songs with school Liturgies and plays.

The Art program, directed by a specialist, encourages exploration and individual creativity. Art experiences are often part of other subject areas. Resource materials are readily available.
The Physical Education teacher sees each grade twice weekly on the playground, in the Gym, or in some cases, at Union Park. The goal of the program is to help children progress motorically and emotionally according to his/her developmental stage. Lifetime skills are stressed.
