Scrip:

Year to date profit is $4,500.00.  This is approximately $500.00 ahead of last year.  Please remember that because Thanksgiving is later this year there are 6 less days to shop between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Please keep this in mind when ordering scrip for all of your purchases.

Jane Tracy has contacted many local vendors that are not currently part of scrip but may be interested in becoming new vendors.  Watch for the list of new vendors soon!  Thank you Jane for all of your hard work.

Make-A-Difference Day:

Combined project total was $2,200.00.  There was a car wash ($260.00), bike ride ($1000.00), pizza sale ($300.00) and the penny push ($681.00)! Thank you to everyone from St. Bernard’s and St. Henry’s for getting involved.

Market Day:

Currently there are between 9-14 families using Market Day.  The profits are $927.00.

2008 Wreath Sale:  Jamey and Karen Quinn are continuing to organize the annual event.  A new vendor was selected because they can deliver the wreaths to our location.  Wreath pick up will be November 21-23.  The weekend prior to Thanksgiving.  Karen and Jamey will need volunteers to assist during the wreath pick up.

The $2,200.00 raised will be for updating technology and the school accelerated reader  programs.

New event!

The principals and Home and School Presidents from St. Bernard’s and St. Henry’s met prior to the start of the school year.  The discussion was based on strengthening the relationship between the schools and Home and School Associations.  Both schools would like to work together more.  An upcoming event will be Guess Who Is Coming to Dinner?  The event will be January 10, 2009.  Families from both schools will attend mass at St. Henry’s and then one family from St. Bernard’s and one family from St. Henry’s will have dinner together at one of their homes.  Some families will cook and some families will attend the meal.  Please watch for more information on this adults only event.

Christmas Gifts for the Teachers:

Each year Home and School families try to lighten your holiday shopping.  We do this by having one family from each grade purchase a gift from the class.  Donations are collected from families and the class representative finds out what the teacher would like as a gift and purchases it from the entire class.  The list of class representatives will come home Friday, November 13, 2008.  Please watch for it!

Fat Tuesday, Pancake Dinner:

The event will be February 24, 2009.  Amy Smith will be coordinating the event and details will be out soon.  Please until then mark your calendar for this wonderful annual event that kicks off the Lenten season.

Friday morning social:

The first social in the school gym will be Friday, November 13.  Currently St. Henry’s has a play group the first Wednesday of the month from 9:30-11:30 and Diane Harrison mentioned the current St. Bernard’s play group at the Highland House.  Currently there are not gym classes on Friday mornings and many people in attendance thought it was a good idea.

Respectfully,

Karri L. Preston
