Saint Bernard Parish Mission Statement:

We the Catholic People of St. Bernard Parish, Watertown, of the Diocese of Madison, commit ourselves to doing God’s Work, building our future in Faith by:

  • Worshiping the Triune God in solidarity with our Catholic brothers and sisters.
  • Building Unity by understanding and sharing the gift of faith.
  • Witnessing God’s presence among us by spreading the Word, self-sacrifice and serving the needs of one another, especially the poor and vulnerable as Jesus teaches.
  • Praying for enlightenment from the Holy Spirit to guide us in all our programs.
  • Worship God in prayer and sacrament
  • Teach and Preach the Word of God
  • Love and serve our neighbor as Jesus taught us
 

IT IS THE GOAL OF EVANGELIZATOIN AD CATECHESIS TO ENCOURAGE THE CHILDREN AND YOUTH OF ST.BERNARD’S TO LIVE WITH THIS MISSION IN THEIR FAMILY AND COMMUNITY. EACH GRADE EMPHASIZES CREED, WORSHIP, SEVEN SACRAMENTS, MORALITY, CATHOLIC PRAYER, CORE SCRIPTURE, LITURGICAL YEAR, PRAYER AND PRACTICES. THESE AREAS ARE DEVELOPED EACH YEAR SO THE CHILD AND YOUTH CAN REFLECT ON THE MEANING OF EACH AS HE’SHE GROWS IN FAITH. PARTICIPATION IN CLASSES, WORSHIP, SERVICE AND ACTIVITES IS ESSENTIAL TO TOTAL FAITH FORMATION. EACH FAMILY IS REQUIRED TO VOLUNTEER IN SOME MANNER. SUNDAY MASS AND PARTICIPATIN IN THE SACRAMENTS IS EXPECTED.

 

EARLY CHILDHOOD – SUNDAY SHARING – For children ages 3, 4, 5. Meets the first three Sundays of the months of October thru March, with the exception of October 21, during the 10:00 am Mass.

ELEMENTARY GRADES 1-5. Meets every Wednesday, September 26 through April 9, from 3:30 pm until 4:45 pm. If there is a Mass and Family Potluck, holiday or Catechist meeting, there may not be a class at the regular time. Please refer to our calendar, parent letters, or call if in doubt.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADES 6-8 Meets every Wednesday evening from September 26 through April 9 from 7:30 pm until 8:30 pm. If there is a Mass & family potluck, holiday or catechist meeting, there may not be a class at the regular time. Please refer to our calendar, parent letters or call if in doubt. Your are expected to come and to participate in all activities, masses and classes planned for them. They are also expected to attend Sunday Mass.

HIGH SCHOOL – GRADES 9-10 Meets every Wednesday evening from October 3 through April 9 from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm. . If there is a Mass & family potluck, holiday or catechist meeting, there may not be a class at the regular time. Please refer to our calendar, parent letters or call if in doubt. Your are expected to come and to participate in all activities, Masses and classes planned for them. They are also expected to attend Sunday Mass.

CONFIRMATION GRADE 11 Meets every Wednesday from October 3 through April 9 from 7:00 pm until 8:15 pm unless the schedule indicates otherwise. The Confirmation Retreat is March 1 and 2nd, 2008. Please check the Confirmation Schedule and refer to parent/confirmand letters for requirements, classes and activities. Confirmands are required to attend all classes, retreats, activities. Attendance at Sunday Mass every weekend is also required.

THEOLOGY OF THE BODY AND GREAT ADVENTURE BIBLE STUDY are sessions the 8th grade students are able to participate in. Call Mrs. Getchell for more information.
